What makes Bergschaft special - beyond guided tours and summit destinations?
In this Insight Mail, we give you a look behind the scenes: Who are the people who shape Bergschaft? What drives us? How did it all begin and where are we heading?
How it all began
It all started with a joint training programme: Jonas and Flo got to know each other during their mountain guide training. They completed (and repeated😊) modules together and quickly realised that they enjoyed training together and shared similar visions for the future. Their passion for the mountains united them, as did their desire to build something of their own. After their training, they both worked for the same mountain sports provider. He became a mentor and eventually encouraged them to go their own way. When he retired, it was clear to Jonas and Flo: Now is the moment. And so her own mountain sports company was born.
A name with attitude
But what should this new project be called?
After months of name ideas, a joint coaching afternoon on organisational development and a survey among friends, the choice was finally made: Bergschaft.
A neologism with meaning:
Mountain + Community = Bergschaft.
Because we are about more than just sport on the mountain. It's about trust in the rope team, shared experiences and friendships that extend far beyond a tour. Not only between guide and guest, but also within our network.
Because we know: Being a mountain guide can also be lonely - and that's exactly where Bergschaft connect.
Starting small - with great motivation
Our first season? Guided tours with occasionally just one guest. But always with 100% motivation and the will to turn Bergschaft into a real heart project.
Our goal: to create a space for design and development. For ourselves. For other guides. And for everyone who is travelling with us.
Because we are convinced that if we do what inspires us, we can also inspire others.
Two characters - one common goal
Jonas and Flo - two different personalities with complementary strengths. That's exactly what makes us special. Our common goal: to make the most of every experience and pass on our joy of the mountains.
Today, we organise tours, trips and projects that reflect our experience and personality. And also the skills and interests of the guides who are travelling for us.
Because with Bergschaft we want to be a place where people grow together - on the mountain and beyond.
Outlook - the journey continues
What started small four years ago is growing steadily.
We want to create even more space:
For creative tour ideas, new collaborations and inspiring encounters on the mountain - always focussing on quality, authenticity and community.
