No special alpine touring course is necessary for the 4000 metres. It is sufficient to do a normal high-altitude touring course and have a decent level of fitness. It is worth feeling the altitude and familiarising yourself with the techniques of climbing. This is exactly why we have the high tour course for 4000m peaks Allalin or Bishorn on offer. Generally on alpine tours and also in the alpine touring course, the climbing sections are very easy. We therefore often refer to climbing on alpine tours as scrambling. You partly need your hands to get up, but the difficulty is not high. Therefore it is helpful to get acquainted with climbing and belaying techniques, but not necessary.

Hiking and jogging is the best preparation for high altitude tours. This way you get used to the uneven ground and build up your fitness. Climbing in a climbing hall is also helpful to gain first experiences.

Good physical fitness is a prerequisite. Participants should be able to hike for several hours at a time or move around in pathless terrain.

For a high altitude course you need:

• Weatherproof clothing including rain and heat protection, gloves and hats
• Mountain boots suitable for crampons
• Ice axe and crampons
• Climbing harness
• a few carabiners, slings

Yes, you can bring your own equipment. However, our mountain guides will check the suitability and safety of your equipment before the start of the tour. It is better if you familiarise yourself with your own equipment right from the start and train with it.
