Mountain guide aspirant Kevin Kohler

Kevin has always been and still is fascinated by the mountains. He loves to share experiences of remoteness, vastness, simplicity, silence and, above all, joy with his guests. With a confident methodical and didactic approach and a flair for people, he guides you through alpine adventures with care. He conveys the movements in snow, rock and ice, the conscientious handling of risks in the mountains and immersion in the moment with enthusiasm, empathy and humour. In addition to his work as a mountain guide, Kevin works as a cantonal school teacher for sport and philosophy (i.A.), whereby his pedagogical background is evident in his courses and his philosophical outlook occasionally comes to the fore at a hut evening. In his free time, his heart beats for very different interests: He plays the guitar, is a hobby gardener with an interest in permaculture, enjoys reading non-fiction books and appreciates discussions about their content. He also likes to take moments of peace and quiet to consciously find clarity - an attitude that accompanies him both in everyday life and in the mountains.

Great technique course with Kevin! The day was packed with lots of valuable input and yet Kevin focussed on all of us individually and we had time to work on "our" construction site. We learnt a lot and took a lot away with us, it motivates us to jump back on the skis and deepen everything.

Second time on touring skis, and I loved every part of the day. It was not about going far, but about avalanche knowledge. From identifying the dangers and dealing with the consequences of an avalanche (security kit usage), I definitely learnt a lot. Kevin was for sure an amazing instructor!

On our three-day tour with Reto and Kevin to the Bishorn and Brunegg (Turtmanhütte + Vabane de Tracuit) we had a lot of fun. For me as a Dutchman (Holland/Netherlands) doing a longer tour than one day, it was fantastic. Both tour guides were very entertaining, took their job seriously and included us in the tour planning! Thanks a lot guys.

Our group was above average in skiing and ascent (although I am a beginner in the ascent). Thanks to the good tips, I was able to find my own rhythm and keep up with the groups.

I will definitely return to you for another tour and can recommend everyone to go to Bergschaft and try this fantastic ski tour.

We had an incredibly enjoyable 3-day tour in the glacier world of Saas-Fee. Simon and Kevin were great mountain guides who were super motivated to teach us and guided us safely past the crevasses and in the whiteout. We can heartily recommend Bergschaft and the mountain guides: Good organisation beforehand and great execution of the tour with wonderful descents and great summit experiences at over 4000m.
We always felt safe.
