High tours Portjengrat & Weissmies with mountain guide
Two magnificent tours in great rock and with the crossing of a 4,000 metre peak
We spend these high-altitude touring days in the superbly situated Almagellerhütte. On the first two days we enjoy the beautiful granite in this area. The Portjen ridge over the Pizzo d'Andolla and Porjenhorn is not well known, but is a magnificent crossing. This leads over a varied ridge in fantastic rock. This is the perfect place for scrambling and climbing on a solitary high tour. This is a somewhat longer tour. We then enjoy the crossing of the Weissmies with the best sunrise in Valais. An easy scramble over the south ridge to the glaciated summit. The descent leads over an impressive glacier directly to the Hohsaas mountain restaurant. Here we enjoy the tours we have completed together and then travel comfortably back down to the valley on the mountain railway.
Venue & meeting point
- Area: Saas Valley, Valais
- Meeting point: 10.07 Saas Almagell, village square, continue with the small Furggen cable car
- Conclusion: approx. 15.00 in Saas Grund
- Overnight stay: 2x in the Almagellerhütte
Requirements
- You have experience on high tours.
- You have experience with ice axe and crampons.
- Key sections in the 4th degree of difficulty are of course coached by the mountain guide and can be defused with aids.
- Condition for high altitude tours with around 1000hm ascent and descent at a comfortable pace (~300hm/h).

- Takes place with 2 guests per mountain guide.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
