Andermatt
The Bergschaft Winter Festival is all about our shared passion for the mountains. Whether it’s ski touring, freeriding, an avalanche course, steep skiing or a workshop: you decide for yourself what you want to experience, learn and try out. Over several days, you’ll have the chance to explore the mountains with experienced mountain guides – this time in the mountains around Andermatt. You can put together your own personalised festival programme from our varied range of activities, tailored entirely to your ability and interests.
- Day & Evening: During the day, you can look forward to a variety of off-road tours and courses; in the evening, there’s a relaxed programme at the accommodation.
- Complete flexibility: With our one-day or multi-day passes, you can decide for yourself whether to attend just selected events or make the most of the whole festival experience.
- For all levels: Whether you’re a beginner or already at an advanced level – everyone is welcome here and will find the right activity for them: ski touring for beginners, freeriding for advanced skiers, avalanche courses or steep skiing.
Freeride Film Tour & Workshops
A particular highlight is the film night on Friday. In a relaxed atmosphere, we watch a selection of short films on the themes of freeriding, ski touring and mountain sports. There’s plenty of time for conversation, making new friends and looking forward to the next few days together in the snow.
On Saturday evening, you can deepen your knowledge in exciting workshops. The Bergschaft Festival thrives on a sense of community, learning from one another and the shared joy of exploring the mountains.
Our base camp
Our base camp is the cosy Sust Lodge in Hospental. From here, we set off every day to explore the diverse mountain landscape around Andermatt. During the day, the focus is on shared experiences in the snow, learning and trying out new things: improving technique, deepening our knowledge, gaining experience and exploring together. When the day’s mountain activities come to an end, the festival is far from over. In the evening, the base camp becomes a meeting place: we share experiences, get to know new people, deepen our knowledge in workshops and round off the day with a nice drink and meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Of course, you can also stay in alternative accommodation or travel in daily whilst still taking part in the festival. If you book a day pass, you can conveniently add your accommodation at the Sust Lodge and other offers directly in the booking system after clicking «Register». This way, you can put together your own personalised festival package tailored entirely to your preferences.

At the festival in Andermatt, you can put together your own personalised programme. When you register, choose from the various tours and courses on offer. If conditions are particularly good, you can change your activity at short notice.
Avalanche courses for beginners and advanced learners
Learn how to use an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe, and how to move safely in winter terrain. Hone your decision-making skills and practise dealing with more complex avalanche situations.

Our evening programme
After each tour, we meet up again at the festival site. We euphorically exchange our experiences and learnings and enjoy something to eat and drink. On Friday evening there is also the opportunity to watch the films from the Freeride Film Festival and on Saturday evening to attend various workshops!

Procedure and meeting place
When you register, you can choose your preferred tour or course. Groups are deliberately kept small, with 4–6 participants per mountain guide, to ensure personalised support. You can choose from a range of courses:
- Ski touring basic training
- Avalanche Course for Beginners
- Advanced Avalanche Course
- Skiing techniques for deep snow
- Steep skiing course – Abseiling and skiing down steep slopes
… and choose tours:
- A leisurely ski tour
- Intermediate ski tour
- Challenging ski tour
- Freeriding in Gemsstock
- Adventurous ski tour featuring traverses and exciting routes (subject to conditions; a surcharge may apply)
If the snow conditions are excellent, there’s the option to adjust your choice at short notice. For example, if it’s currently snowing and perfect powder conditions are on the cards, you can switch to a freeride day at short notice.
For our tours, we make specific use of cable cars and the train up to the Oberalp Pass. This way, we get the most out of the descent with as little climbing as possible. Our aim: secluded terrain, the finest snow and truly excellent runs.

Guests at the accommodation: 8.30 am after breakfast at the hotelDepending on the weather and snow conditions, the meeting point may change slightly. You’ll be given the exact details before the day of the tour.
You’ll be out and about in the mountains all day with your guide. You’ll grab a bite to eat from your rucksack, take in lots of new ideas, enjoy the powder or simply switch off completely in the great outdoors. The group is put together to suit your skill level and fitness.
At around 3.00 pm, we gradually wind down our day in the mountains. Over a coffee together, we look back on the tour, meet up at the festival site, or head straight home.
A varied programme awaits you in the evenings: on Friday, you can draw inspiration from the short films at the «Freeride Film Festival». On Saturday, you can deepen your knowledge in exciting workshops and pick up new ideas for your next adventures.

The Gotthard region around Andermatt offers the ideal conditions for our Bergschaft Winter Festival. Thanks to the modern mountain railways, extensive freeride slopes and numerous ski-touring opportunities, beginners and experienced winter sports enthusiasts alike will find terrain to suit them. Whether it’s freeriding on the Gemsstock or classic ski touring in the surrounding valleys – the possibilities are endless.
The region also offers an ideal training and practice area for avalanche training, rescue techniques and developing in-depth knowledge of ski touring. The varied mountain landscape allows us to adapt the programmes flexibly to the conditions and the needs of the participants.
With the Sust Lodge in Hospental as our shared base camp, we have the perfect starting point for our activities. This is where we meet up after a day in the snow, share our experiences, attend workshops and enjoy the special atmosphere of our festival.

Our base camp, the Sust Lodge in Hospenthal
The Sust Lodge in Hospental is the heart of our festival. This cosy little hotel combines modern comfort with alpine charm and offers the perfect setting for spending time together in the mountains. After the tours and workshops, we meet here to chat, reflect on the day’s experiences and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere amidst the Uri mountains.
The stylish rooms, the warm hospitality and the central location make the Sust Lodge the ideal base camp for our activities around Andermatt. Whether it’s breakfast before a tour, dinner together or a drink after an eventful day, this is where the special sense of community that defines the Bergschaft Festival comes to life.
We have pre-booked rooms for participants. Of course, you’re also welcome to stay in your own accommodation or come for just one day. However, if you’d like to experience the festival to the full, we recommend joining us at our shared base camp at the Sust Lodge.
Price and services
- Festival days: 225.- per day, discount for multi-day passes
- Including professional planning and organisation with a mountain guide and his expenses.
- Including festival area, limited test material.
- For the adventure ski tour in a small group of 4 guests per mountain guide: CHF 290 per day.
- Hotel accommodation: CHF 140 per person per night, in various room types (from double rooms to four-bed rooms)
- Breakfast and dinner included.
- The availability of a single room needs to be checked.
- Tip: When booking a multi-day pass, you can select your overnight stay and other options at the same time.
- The workshops on Saturday evening are free for festival-goers.
- The short films shown as part of the Freeride Film Tour on Friday evening cost CHF 25.-
