The Krönten towers as a striking rock and firn summit high above the wildly romantic Maderanertal valley. The crossing is an impressive alpine tour with everything that makes a mountaineer's heart beat faster: a varied ascent over boulder terrain, firn and easy climbing passages, an airy summit ridge and a varied descent. Together with our mountain guide, you will master this exciting route and be rewarded with magnificent views deep into Central Switzerland.
Procedure and meeting place
Individual journey. We meet in Amsteg in the morning.
Ascent together to the Leutschachhütte. Here we enjoy the view and get in the mood for the upcoming crossing. Overnight stay at the hut.
Early start. From the hut we climb higher over boulder terrain and firn fields until we reach the ridge. Over easy, well-secured climbing sections (II.-III. degree) we reach the summit of the Krönten. After a break with a magnificent panorama, we cross the summit and descend via the Kröntenhütte back to the Maderanertal.
Requirements
- You have first experience on high tours.
- You can move well in pathless terrain.
- Climbing sections in the 2-3rd degree.
- Stamina for alpine tours with around 1000 metres ascent and descent at a normal pace (~300m/h).

- Rope team with 2 guests per mountain guide.
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.

- For this tour you need the following material from this PDF. We carry our equipment with us all the time. Pack only what is necessary.
Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.

Accommodation
Leutschach hut
The Leutschachhütte is idyllically situated above the Leutschach Valley in the canton of Uri and offers a wonderful view of the surrounding peaks such as Krönten, Ruchen and Griesstock. It is an ideal starting point for alpine excursions. The cosy, SAC-typical atmosphere invites you to linger, and those who experience the evening atmosphere on the terrace will feel the special tranquillity of this place.
