Mountain hike | Calanda traverse with a mountain guide
A secluded and easy scrambling hike up Chur’s local mountain. Deserted paths and lovely scrambling sections await us!

We cross the Calanda together via Berger Calanda to Rossfallenspitz and on to Haldensteiner Calanda. A lonely high tour far above the Chur Rhine Valley with beautiful scrambling sections, impressive rock formations and a few airy but easy climbing sections. We cycle together to the Vazer Alp and start the tour here. We reach the three peaks of the Chur Calanda via increasingly lonely paths and easy climbing sections. On this tour we find a very old summit book ... from 1947! On the descent, we partly abseil down and pass the Calanda hut. Maybe there's still a fresh Calanda here? A really great tour!
Procedure and meeting place
08:40 Landquart railway station, on the Fashion Outlet side, at the roundabout. From there, continue together to Vazer Alp.
From the Vazer Alp we climb along the hiking trail and then over pathless terrain to Berger Calanda, from where our crossing starts.
The traverse crosses several towers. These can be climbed with ease (2nd to 3rd degree difficulty). We also reach a tower with a summit book from 1947 😉 We abseil down from the Napoleon tower. Here, you will be lowered by the mountain guide.
The descent from the summit follows a normal hiking trail. We pass the Calanda hut, where we drink a toast to our tour together.
Requirements
- You have first experience on high tours.
- You can move well in pathless terrain.
- 2nd degree climbing sections.
- Stamina for alpine tours with around 1000 metres ascent and descent at a normal pace (~300m/h).

- CHF 490.-
- Rope team with 2 guests per mountain guide.
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.

- We have for you a detailed packing list with packing tips compiled.
- For this tour you need the following material from this PDF. We carry our equipment with us all the time. Pack only what is necessary.
Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
