Albigna / Bergell
The Albigna area in Bergell is a true climbing paradise: grippy granite, impressive lines and a breathtaking backdrop. Over the course of three days, we will climb some of the most beautiful destinations in the region, including the Piz dal Päl, the striking Balzet and, of course, the legendary Fiamma, which juts out of the ridge like a stone flame. Our base is the cosy Albigna hut, which we reach after an exciting journey by cable car and a short ascent. From here we set off on our daily tours, which can be adapted depending on the weather and conditions. In addition to lots of climbing fun in the best granite, you can expect unforgettable views, alpine adventures and cosy evenings in the hut.
Procedure and meeting place
Our starting point is the Albigna hut, from where we embark on a variety of tours to Piz dal Päl, Balzet and the iconic Fiamma. The approach leads us through an impressive alpine landscape, past glaciers and turquoise-coloured reservoirs.
We meet in the morning in Pranzaira at the valley station of the Albigna cable car. After the equipment check, we take the cable car up together and start our ascent to the Albigna hut.
From the mountain station, we climb up to the hut in around an hour, deposit our equipment and set off straight away on our first tour on the Piz dal Päl. The climbing in solid granite offers perfect slabs, cracks and marvellous views. An ideal start to familiarise ourselves with the climbing.
After breakfast, we head to Balzet, a striking granite wall not far from the hut. Varied multi-pitch routes with perfect rock and alpine ambience await us here. The way back leads us over gentle granite slabs back to the hut, where we end the day in a cosy atmosphere.
Finally, we head to the landmark of Bregaglia - the Fiamma. The famous, needle-shaped rock peak offers a short but impressive climb with a unique photo opportunity at the summit. After the tour, we descend to the mountain station and take the railway back down to the valley.
Back in the valley, we say goodbye to each other and set off on our individual journeys home, with many impressive images in our minds that will leave us with memories of our experiences for a long time to come.
Requirements
- Safe climbing on the second ascent in difficulty levels up to 5b
- Experience in multi-pitch climbing an advantage
- Good physical condition for daily tours with up to 500 metres ascent/descent and 4-6 hours climbing time
- Sure-footedness and a head for heights in alpine terrain

- Rope team with 2 guests per mountain guide.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.

Capanna da l`Albigna
The Albigna hut (2,331 m) is picturesquely situated above the Albigna reservoir and offers direct access to the granite walls of the Bergell. It is the ideal starting point for our tours, with a cosy atmosphere, good food and magnificent views of the surrounding peaks.
