Crossing the Kreuzberge VII to V
Impressive and excellent ridge climbing over three Kreuzberge mountains high above the Rhine Valley.

Endurance
The eight Kreuzberge are imposing limestone towers towering high above the Rhine Valley. Much of alpine history was made here! We’ll tackle the traverse starting from the saddle between Kreuzberg VIII and VII, beginning with the west ridge up to our first Kreuzberg. After two abseils, we’ll reach the next saddle and from there ascend Kreuzberg VI. The descent takes us on a spectacular route over the “Daumen” to the Felsenfenster. The surroundings here are simply brilliant! If there’s enough time left, we’ll tackle the next tower as well. Once again, with excellent ridge climbing on top-quality rock, we head up and, after a few abseils, reach the next saddle. A truly impressive route, consistently through adventurous terrain! We make the approach easier by driving up to the Teselalp from Wildhaus and, from there, hiking 600hm to the start of the route.
Procedure and meeting place
We’ll meet in Wildhaus and travel from there by car with the mountain guide to Teselalp. If there are enough e-bikes, we’ll cycle up to the alp on them.
The traverse is an impressive route. It involves a few pitches of alpine climbing up to one of the Kreuzberge, before abseiling down the other side. The climbing is Grade 3. One section is graded 4a, but this can easily be made easier with the aid of slings.
After the tour, we’ll head back up to the alp and drive back to Wildhaus.
Requirements
- First experiences on ridge walks.
- Re-climbing in the 3rd and lower 4th degree of difficulty
- Stamina for an ascent and descent of around 1000 metres and a climbing tour of around 5 hours
Price and services
- CHF 490.-
- Rope team with 2 guests per mountain guide.
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Plus a share of the car-sharing costs and a driving permit (approx. CHF 25)
- Excluding personal travelling expenses, any train tickets, personal consumption.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
