Chli & Gross Läckihorn Mountain Tour | Traverse with a mountain guide
A varied high-altitude hike in the heart of the Uri Alps: over ridges, boulder fields and easy, enjoyable climbing sections, we cross the Chli and the Gross Läckihorn.

Between the Furka Pass and Göscheneralp, the Chli- and Gross Läckihorn form a striking pair of peaks made of light-coloured granite. The traverse links these two peaks, both offering superb views, into a varied high-altitude hike, leading through an impressive alpine landscape of rock, scree and small glacial remnants. From our starting point, we first ascend towards the Chli Läckihorn via alpine paths and boulder fields. Even at this stage, beautiful views open up over the surrounding peaks of the Uri Alps and the glacial landscape around the Furka Pass. Via simple climbing sections and exposed passages, we reach the first summit. The actual traverse then begins. The ridge leading to the Gross Läckihorn offers varied scrambling over solid granite, thrilling views down into the depths and an impressive alpine atmosphere. The mountain guide will accompany and belay you on the challenging sections and provide valuable tips for moving safely in alpine terrain. Once we reach the Gross Läckihorn, we’ll enjoy the fantastic panoramic views of the Dammastock, the Galenstock, the Furka region and the numerous peaks of the Gotthard massif. After a well-deserved rest at the summit, we’ll descend back into the valley via the standard route.
Procedure and meeting place
We’ll meet early in the morning in Andermatt. From there, we’ll drive together to our starting point at the very back of the valley, just below the Rotondo Hut.
We set off together towards the Chli Läckihorn. We quickly gain altitude as we make our way across alpine terrain, scree slopes and the first easy climbing sections. After reaching the first summit, the varied ridge traverse to the Gross Läckihorn begins. Along the way, we’ll encounter exposed sections, enjoyable climbing passages and, time and again, impressive views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers of the Uri Alps. Once we reach the Gross Läckihorn, we’ll enjoy the fantastic panoramic views before descending back towards the starting point via the standard route. Throughout the day, the mountain guide will accompany you, belay you at key points and offer valuable tips on how to move safely across alpine rocky terrain. A varied high-altitude tour featuring two summits, beautiful ridge climbing, plenty of alpine atmosphere and a well-deserved cold drink back at the Rotondo Hut.
We’ll round off the day together back in Andermatt.
