High tour Mönch Southwest ridge
Beautiful traverse with magnificent views, a few nice climbing sections and a magnificent firn ridge.
The Mönch is enthroned in the middle of the glacier world of the Jungfraujoch and the Aletsch Arena. With magnificent views of the glacier world on one side and the foothills of the Alps and the green flatlands on the other, it offers a tour full of contrasts. The south-east ridge has a few nice climbing sections in the III difficulty ridge and with the current firn conditions, the summit is in fantastic conditions.
Venue & meeting point
- Area: Mönch, Jungfraucho, Bernese Oberland
- Meeting point: 8.05 Grindelwald Terminal, at the turnstiles, right by the entrance to the cable car
- Conclusion: approx. 15.00
Requirements
- You have first experience on high tours.
- You have first experience with ice axe and crampons.
- Stamina for alpine tours with around 600 m ascent and descent at a leisurely pace (~300 m/h).

- Takes place with 2 guests per mountain guide.

- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.

- For this tour you need the following material from this PDF. We carry our equipment with us all the time. Pack only what is necessary.
Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
