Multi-pitch climbing in Ticino | Speroni di Ponte Brolla & Via del Veterano

Fancy a spontaneous day’s climbing in sunny Ticino? Then come along to Ponte Brolla! We’ll meet right at Ponte Brolla station once public transport has arrived. The start of the route is just a stone’s throw away. The striking rock pillars, rising to around 400 metres, offer varied climbing on Ticino gneiss. Together with the mountain guide, you’ll climb a suitable multi-pitch route. There’s a choice of routes ranging from moderate difficulty up to around 5b, so we can tailor the day’s climbing to suit.

After a 30-minute approach, we reach the start of the route. Then it’s pitch by pitch upwards: slabs with good holds, lovely climbing sections and, time and again, views across the landscape of the Maggia Valley.

After the climb, we head back down into the valley and round off the day in a relaxed manner with a dip in the river and a gelato, before taking public transport back home.

On Sunday, Julian is taking you on the Via del Veterano in Ticino. There’s currently one place left! We’ll meet at 8.20 am at Faido station, where Julian will collect you. You’ll need to be able to climb up to grade 5b confidently. Fancy a spontaneous day’s climbing?
