Greina level

Crossing the Greina plain and climbing Piz Medel is one of the most impressive skiing adventures in Graubünden. Away from the hustle and bustle, we experience four intense days full of tranquillity, vastness and unspoilt mountain scenery. From Curaglia or Fuorns we climb up to the idyllically situated Medelserhütte, where we are warmly welcomed by Verena and Jochen. Both are passionate hosts and excellent cooks. The homemade cake tastes particularly good here with a view through the large panoramic window. We stay at this special place for two nights. A highlight of the tour is the ascent of Piz Medel over glaciers and a firn ridge with great views. The combination of technical ease and magnificent scenery makes this tour particularly rewarding. On the third day, the trail leads us across the lonely Greina plain - an alpine high plateau with an almost mystical aura - to the Terrihütte, where we end the day in a cosy atmosphere. Finally, we climb Piz Ner, which rewards us once again with a marvellous view and a varied descent into Val Lumnezia. Our taxi is waiting at the bottom of the valley. For the journey home, we have many strong impressions, new experiences and the feeling of community that such a crossing brings with it.

Accommodation

  • Medelserhütte

The Medelserhütte is idyllically situated on the pass in front of Piz Medel. It serves as the gateway to the beautiful Greina plain. The Medelserhütte is lovingly run by Verena and Jochen and the view from the panorama window is unique. Here you feel at home!

  • Terri hut

The Terrihütte is located in the Greina plain. In winter, the hut is usually unattended and you are completely alone here. Perfect for enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. We can cook and heat with wood in the unattended part and there are plenty of warm beds. When we are here in the unattended part, we cook together. We take the food with us from the Medelserhütte.
