Climbing holidays Corsica | Tafonis & Sea
Climbing in the incredible rock formations of Corsica, the Tafonis and a dip in the sea in the evening - climbing holidays in Corsica!
Highlights
With its diverse possibilities and unique rock formations, Corsica is the absolute climbing paradise for climbers. From simple climbing gardens to varied multi-pitch routes in all levels of difficulty and lengths, Corsica has it all. The unique rock formations, the tafonis, through which many climbing routes will lead you, are a constant companion. In addition to the impressive rocks, in Corsica you will also be able to enjoy the sea and the warming sun on your neck and extend the summer with us.
Climbing trip
Together we spend a week in a climbing paradise. Corsica can be reached comfortably by ferry from Savona (1 hour west of Genoa) in an overnight crossing and arrives in Bastia in the north-east. On the island, we travelled flexibly in a van. The choice of climbing opportunities is enormous, so we will experience something different every day. On the very first day, we head to one of the climbing gardens in the valley with short multi-pitch routes. We start with a refresher course on the most important multi-pitch techniques before exploring the various multi-pitch routes in the region together over the following days. The routes range from well-secured climbing gardens to wild multi-pitch routes that you have to secure yourself. The Bavella Pass in particular is known for its impressive rock formations, the tafonis. That's why our accommodation is close to the pass on the east coast of Corsica, about 20-40 minutes away by car. Thanks to the convenient location, we can also reach the centre of Corsica in just over an hour and can also visit and climb the beautiful Restonica Valley on a day trip. We spend the week in a large house right by the sea and there is plenty of time to jump into the water and visit the pretty villages of Corsica as well as spend the evenings together over a delicious meal.
Journey and tour itinerary
We meet in the afternoon at the harbour in Bastia. There we have a coffee together, get to know each other and have time to clarify our expectations and needs. From there, we head to the crag together and spend the rest of the day in the climbing garden.
We will also spend the second day in the climbing garden again. This will allow us to revisit safety-related topics and create a common basis for the coming days.
Daily destination: All participants know their own skills and those of their counterparts. Rope teams are formed and everyone feels safe for the climbing days ahead.
Training content

Evening planning
We plan the next day together.
We climb in different areas and enjoy the unique rock formations and climbing opportunities that Corsica offers: Multi-pitch routes, tafonis, climbing gardens, rivers and the sea. There is always time to get to know the region and discover new things. We also take the time to swim in the sea and visit the beautiful villages in the region.
Target: We climbed in various climbing areas and learnt a lot of new things. A great time together is an important part of an enjoyable experience and should not be missed - fun is a must!
After a beautiful and impressive week of climbing in Corsica, the week ends on Saturday. Those who want to and are only travelling home by ferry in the evening can spend another half day in the climbing garden or visit the city of Bastia, we will plan the last day together and finish together.
Touring area
The Bavella Pass (Col de Bavella) is located in the south of Corsica and is known for its impressive rock formations made of solid, grippy granite. The area offers a wide range of climbing routes in grades 4 and 5, from well-secured multi-pitch routes to challenging trad routes. Tafonis are particularly typical, but slab climbing and crack formations can also be found.
