Introductory ice climbing course in Kandersteg with a mountain guide
Learn the basics of ice climbing from mountain guides and immerse yourself in the world of ice climbing.
Over the course of two days, this course will teach you the basics of ice climbing. From the correct use of ice axes and crampons, through standard climbing techniques, to belaying, we’ll show you how to move safely through the icy winter landscape. We’ll be climbing in an icefall area, where single-pitch routes are ideal for practising. Through a series of exercises, you’ll learn the techniques of ice climbing step by step and put them into practice straight away. Don’t worry about the cold – we’ll have a gas stove with us so we can enjoy hot coffee, tea or soup from time to time. We’ll be staying at the cosy Hotel Alpina in triple rooms. We’ll enjoy breakfast at the hotel and, in the evening, treat ourselves to a meal at the Ermitage restaurant, which is a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
