Summit day Mont Blanc

Mont Blanc

Mont Blanc 4,808 m is the dream destination of many ski tourers. In spring, it shows its best side: longer days, stable snow conditions and unique firn descents. In four days, we combine the experience of the Vallée Blanche with an ascent of the highest peak in the Alps on skis. In addition to Mont Blanc, another impressive ski tour with spectacular views and a fantastic descent is on the programme. Breathtaking views, endless glaciers, airy ridges and, as a highlight, the descent from Mont Blanc directly down to Chamonix await us.

  • Procedure and meeting place

    • Meeting point Chamonix

      11 am Chamonix railway station

Individual journey to Chamonix. We meet at the railway station.

    • Day 1 - Aiguille du Midi and approach to Refuge de Requin

Ascent together on the Aiguille du Midi railway and impressive descent via the Vallée Blanche to the Refuge du Requin. Overnight stay at the Refuge.

    • Day 2 - Aiguille du Plan ski tour

      approx. 1150m

      2,800m

      ZS+

      6-7h

From the hut, we go on a ski tour to the Aiguille du Plan at 3,673 metres, followed by a long descent back to Chamonix. A perfect acclimatisation and enjoyable experience at the same time. We spend the night in Chamonix.

The Aiguille du Plan is considered a challenging ski tour, both on the ascent (steep, combined terrain with glacier passages) and on the descent (glacier breaks, sometimes steep slopes).

The descent to Chamonix is via the Vallée Blanche and is an absolute highlight: around 2,800 metres of descent down to the valley. Depending on the conditions and route (Mer de Glace, Montenvers or all the way down to Chamonix), the difficulty varies between WS+ and ZS.

    • Day 3 - Ascent Grands Mulets hut

      750m

      4-5h

Ascent from the middle station of the Aiguille du Midi cable car - Plan de l`Aiguille, via the classic route to the Grands Mulets hut. We first cross under the northern flank of the Aiguille du Midi. We then ascend over the Bosson glacier, passing impressive séracs and crevasse zones. The Grands Mulets hut is spectacularly situated on a rocky outcrop in the middle of the glacier. It is the base for our summit day tomorrow.

    • Day 4 - Summit day Mont Blanc

      1,800m

      3700m

      WS - ZS

      7-9h

We set off early for the Roof of the Alps. At the highest point in the Alps, we enjoy the view of the rest of the world :). Afterwards, we enjoy the unique descent over the long glaciers back to Chamonix.

Accommodation

  • Refuge Requin

The Refuge du Requin is impressively situated on a rocky outcrop high above the glacier of the Vallée Blanche. The view of the icefalls of the Géant glacier is spectacular and makes the hut an unforgettable base in the heart of the Mont Blanc massif. The small, cosy hut offers space for around 60 guests and is a popular stopover on the Haute Route or for ski tour classics such as the Vallée Blanche. Despite the wild surroundings, you can expect a warm atmosphere, good food and a view that will stay with you for a long time.

  • Hotel Cosmique Centre Chamonix

The traditional Hotel Le Cosmiques is located in the heart of Chamonix, just a few steps away from restaurants, bars and shops. The accommodation offers simple, cosy rooms and, thanks to its central location, is an ideal meeting point and starting point for tours in the Mont Blanc massif. The hotel is particularly popular with alpinists and ski tourers, who appreciate the uncomplicated and mountain-sport orientated atmosphere.

  • Refuge des Grands Mulets

At 3051 metres, the hut sits spectacularly enthroned between the Bossons glacier's crevasses and offers a unique view of Chamonix far below in the valley. The Refuge des Grands Mulets is the starting point for the classic ski ascent of Mont Blanc via the north side and the Bosses ridge. The hut is simple but cosy, and its location in the middle of a sea of glaciers conveys a real high mountain feeling. The long tradition of alpinism around the "white giant" is particularly tangible here.
