Motörhead

Motörhead is one of the great classics of alpine trad climbing - and quite rightly so: in the impressive granite slabs of the Eldorado, one aesthetic pitch follows the next, interspersed with cracks, intersections and piazza sections that promise plenty of climbing fun.

What makes Motörhead so special is not only the consistently beautiful climbing, but also its history: the route was opened in 1981 by the Rémy brothers and is now one of the first real clean multi-pitch tours in Switzerland - a milestone in the development of trad climbing. Anyone who climbs here will feel the pioneering alpine era and experience climbing in its most original form - reduced to the essentials, challenging and honest.

Our tour begins with the approach along the Lauteraarhüttenweg, past glacier cuts and alpine lakes, until we reach the start below the striking intersection. We want to get in early, because 14 pitches of the finest granite climbing await us, always accompanied by the view of the wild high mountain landscape of the Grimsel region. The cruxes in the upper sixth grade are challenging but not overwhelming - ideal for experienced climbers who love a challenge and variety.

Motörhead is not just a route - it is a kind of accolade for all those who love alpine trad classics. A route that inspires, challenges and rewards. An experience that stays with you.
