The Lobhörner traverse is one of the really great scrambling tours above Lauterbrunnen. The beautiful rock can be enjoyed in the 3rd and 4th degree of difficulty, while the mighty 4,000 metre peaks of the Bernese Oberland can be marvelled at. The traverse of the small and large Lobhorn is easy to grip and simply brilliant. Depending on your mood, you can also lead the way yourself or, if there is a difficult section, the mountain guide can easily defuse it. Thanks to the small Isenfluh cable car, the ascent and descent are shorter and we can experience a great round tour!
Procedure and meeting place
We meet in Isenfluh village.
Ascent together with the cable car. From here we ascend via the Sulsseeli in around 1.5 hours to the start of the Lobhörner. During the ascent, we already enjoy the impressive view of the Jungfrau, the Breithorn and the surrounding mountains. Then the real adventure begins: crossing the Lobhörner. We move across the striking peaks secured by ropes, climb over solid limestone cliffs and in between enjoy aerial views down into the Lauterbrunnen valley. The route always offers fantastic photo spots and conveys a real alpine feeling. After the last tower, we descend over well-graded terrain back to Sulwald. Then return to Isenfluh.
We finish the tour together in Isenfluh at around 4 pm.
Requirements
- Climbing in the 3rd and 4th level of difficulty
- Stamina for a tour of around 1000 metres and a climbing time of 3-4 hours

- CHF 490.-
- Rope team with 2 guests per mountain guide.
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.
Material and equipment
- For this tour you need the following material from this PDF. We carry our equipment with us all the time. Pack only what is necessary.
- The crossing is best climbed with approach shoes and additional climbing shoes.
Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
