Introductory course in clean and trad climbing in Cadarese with a mountain guide
Immerse yourself in the originality of climbing and take the plunge into alpine multi-pitch routes! Discover trad climbing from the ground up and learn to climb safely and cleanly without bolts.
In alpine climbing, it's not just your route-finding skills that count, but also the safe use of mobile safety devices such as friends, wedges and totems. This original form of climbing requires technical skill, precise work and a good eye for the rock - but rewards you with intense and unrivalled climbing experiences.
After a brief repetition of the most important techniques from multi-pitch climbing, we dive straight into the world of mobile belaying. On the ground, we practise placing, assessing and loading friends, wedges and totems. Your mountain guide will give you valuable feedback so that you learn to make solid placements and build confidence in your equipment. We then apply what we have learnt directly on the rock - step by step, in a safe environment and with increasing independence.
The area around Cadarese offers ideal conditions for getting started in the world of clean and trad climbing. The region is renowned for its high-quality granite, varied crack climbing and easily accessible climbing areas. The straightforward approaches, the variety of routes and the opportunity to practise different crack widths and belay techniques directly on the rock make Cadarese the perfect place to learn for this beginner’s course. With our Sentiero Verde Bed & Breakfast In Formazza, we also have a lovely place to stay where we can relax after our eventful days.

After an intensive day of training and practical application, we take a break and enjoy each other's company before dinner. After dinner, we use the time to delve back into tour planning and explore different risk management methods in greater depth. Together, we plan the tour for the next day.
We’ve got another climbing trip coming up, where you’ll be able to put what you’ve learnt into practice and gain valuable first-hand experience. Together, we’ll undertake the planned practical trip, consolidate what we’ve learnt so far and – within a safe environment – venture out of our comfort zones.
To round off the course, we’ll hold a group debrief before heading home. What have you learnt, what’s your next climbing goal, and what else do you need to achieve it?
