Ski crossing Cevadale | Sulden with mountain guide:in
Up and around the highest peak in Trentino. On skis over mighty glaciers and through lonely, wild mountains.
Monte Cevedale is a perfect ski touring mountain for spring! Large glaciers spread out on all sides, and thanks to the cable cars in Sulden, this high mountain range around the most famous mountains in South Tyrol, the Königsspitze and the Ortler, is easily accessible. Our destination is the idyllically situated Branca hut, a wonderful starting point for solitary, magnificent ski tours. In winter, this hut is less frequented, as most ski tourers climb the Cevedale from the Marteller hut. Our variant is a varied circular tour via the Rifugio Pizzini to the Branca hut. A route with spectacular views and impressive landscapes. The couple at the Branca hut are incredibly welcoming, and it is here that we spend a few nights to really immerse ourselves in nature and enjoy the wonderful ski tours right on the doorstep.
Procedure and meeting place
We meet in Sulden. It is worth travelling the evening before. We can also meet in Zernez at 09:00 and drive to Sulden in carpools.
We take the ski lifts up to over 2500 metres. From there, we start these magnificent days of ski touring with a leisurely ski tour over the Suldenspitze. From the summit we descend to the Rifugio Pizzini, where we spend the night.
Today we cross the imposing Monte Pasquale. On the north side, we head over an impressive glacier to the prominent summit. With good timing, we have perfect snow on the descent. We enjoy the afternoon at the superbly situated and cosy Rifugio Branca. We spend the next three nights here!
From the Rifugio Branca, magnificent ski tours await us. North-facing slopes with impressive glaciers on perfect ski touring mountains. We choose the best peaks according to the conditions and enjoy the ascent, look for great descents in the sulz and recharge our batteries in the lonely and remote mountain world! Depending on the tour, there are short sections where we carry our skis, but always only for a short time. During these days we can also climb Monte Cevedale if the weather is better here!
Another gem of a ski tour awaits us on the last day. We cross Monte Cevedale and ski a gigantic, long way back down into the valley. Only when the snow stops do we take the railway back to Sulden.
We finish the tour days together in Sulden and travel back to Switzerland individually or in car pools.
