Grand Combin Massif | Ski mountaineering at Easter with a mountain guide
The Combin massif lies at the heart of the Alps. The peaks around the 4000 metre Grand Combin are ideal for high-altitude ski tours.

The glacier world in the Combin massif is breathtaking. The ascents are sensational and the descents lead through perfect skiing terrain. Various ski tour peaks around the mighty 4000 metre Grand Combin await our ascent. Our accommodation, the Cabane Panossière, is modern and well located above the “Glacier de Corbassiere”. The high mountain world around the Cabane Panossiere in the Combin massif is deserted and offers many circular tours with beautiful downhill variants. All tours lead over the large glacier amidst the mighty glaciers of Glacier de Corbassière, Glacier du Grand Combin and Glacier de Boveir. Touring days in this region of Switzerland often feel like a short trip abroad.
Procedure and meeting place
We meet at Sembrancher station, just in time for the train connection, and take a taxi from here to Fionnay, as far up as the snow begins.
Depending on the conditions and snow conditions, we choose the approach via the Col des Avouillons or the direct route. We start at a leisurely pace and climb up and, if possible, include a nice first descent.
Depending on the conditions, we choose the best tours around the Cab. FXB Panossière. Mighty mountains, large glacier landscapes and exciting crossings await us. Possible tours are

- Combin du Meitin
Another magnificent tour awaits us on the last day! We climb over the Glacier de Corbassiere to the Col de Panossière. From here, a magnificent and long descent into the valley awaits us. Once in the valley, the taxi takes us back to the starting point.
We end the day at the same starting point with many new impressions.
Requirements
- Good ski touring technique with skins and hairpin bends.
- Safe downhill technique in open terrain and in different types of snow.
- You have first experience with ice axe and crampons.
- Stamina for ski tours of around 1200 metres at a normal pace (~350m/h).
- In addition, there are sections where we carry the skis and trudge through the snow.
- Splitboarders are welcome, provided they are experienced.

- Small group with 4 - 6 guests per mountain guide.
- Including professional planning and realisation with a mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Including accommodation costs and half board.
- Excluding travelling expenses, possible taxi rides, personal consumption.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
