How long does it take to climb the Tödi on skis?
The ski tour to the Tödi is a long and challenging high-altitude ski tour. Depending on the route, conditions and fitness level, the ascent to the summit usually takes 6 to 8 hours. As the tour covers around 2900 metres in altitude and around 10 kilometres, it is often done as a long day tour with a very early start or in two days with an overnight stay in a hut. The subsequent descent across the wide glaciers offers an impressive and long ski tour through the high alpine landscape of the Glarus Alps.
When is the best time to climb the Tödi?
The ascent of the Tödi is possible both in summer as a high-altitude tour and in spring on touring skis. The ski tour is particularly popular between March and May, when stable avalanche conditions and good firn conditions prevail.
Which ski route leads to the Tödi?
The classic route leads via the Fridolinshütte and the Biferten glacier to the summit. This variant offers an impressive high alpine landscape with long glacier passages. The Tödi can be experienced particularly intensively on a ski tour lasting several days, but the ascent can also be very interesting as a single push.

What equipment do you need for a Tödi ski tour?
Classic ski touring and glacier equipment is required for the ski tour on the Tödi. In addition to touring skis with skins and crampons, the basic equipment also includes full avalanche equipment and material for high alpine terrain: climbing ice, ice axe, climbing harness. Are there alternative routes or descents from the Tödi ski tour?
As an alternative to the normal route via the Bifertenfirn, there is the option of coming from the Surselva via the Porta da Gliems or descending. The Tödi west face is more challenging and an exciting route.
