Basic ski touring training | day course with mountain guide
Learn all the elements of ski touring to explore the lonely, snow-covered mountain world and make your first tracks in deep snow.
Our aim is for you to learn and improve your ski touring technique on this day. During a leisurely practice tour, we will show you what to look out for on ski tours. This way, we experience a beautiful ski tour and learn the basics at the same time. Among other things, we will explain and show you how to put on bindings efficiently, how to put on climbing skins properly using various techniques and how to move ergonomically when walking to save energy. We will also show you the hairpin technique and improve and facilitate your ascent on skis.
Course content & procedure
We get to know each other and clarify your expectations.
We go on a leisurely ski tour together. We impart practical knowledge and apply it in the situation. We give direct and individualised feedback to reinforce the learning process.
Daily destination: You have learnt the basics of ski touring and feel confident enough to take part in guided ski tours.

Ski touring technique
- Different and ergonomic walking techniques
- Hairpin bends in different variations
Avalanche basics
- Using an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe
- First search exercise
- First shovelling exercise
We finish with a great descent and return to the same place.

Central Switzerland:
Andermatt / Oberalp Pass
Meeting point: ~09:15, Oberalp Pass railway station - directly after arrival of public transport
Conclusion: ~15:00 at the same location - adapted to public transport- Oberalp Pass only accessible by public transport in winter

Requirements
- No previous ski touring experience required.
- You know how to ski on black pistes.
- Stamina for short ski tours with an ascent of around 600 metres at a leisurely pace (~300m/h).
- Splitboarders are welcome.
Price and performance
- CHF 195.-
- Small group with 4 - 8 guests per mountain guide.
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
