High tour Bifertenstock with mountain guide
We’ll climb up to the beautiful neighbouring peak of the Tödi via the famous Bänderweg.

Bifertenstock, Glarus
This impressive high-altitude tour takes us from Tierfehd up into the wild and unspoilt mountain world around the Bifertenstock. Via the approach to the Bifertenhütte, we immerse ourselves step by step in high alpine terrain and leave the valley far behind us. The remote location of the hut and the surrounding mountain landscape set the perfect mood for the day ahead. The highlight of the tour is the ascent of the Bifertenstock with the famous crossing of the Bänderweg. This leads spectacularly through steep flanks and natural rock bands and requires concentrated, safe walking in exposed terrain. Technically, the route is easy to moderately challenging, but requires surefootedness, a head for heights and a good feel for the terrain. Short scrambling sections and airy passages make this tour particularly varied and impressive. On the way, we experience classic mountaineering in its original form: a lonely route, exposed terrain, contact with glaciers and plenty of time in the high mountains. This tour is a special experience in the Glarus Alps.
Procedure and meeting place
We meet in the course of the morning in Tierfehd, Glarus
We shorten our ascent by a few metres in altitude by taking the Tierfehd–Kalktrittli cable car. Passing the Muttseehütte, we climb up to the Kisten Pass and soon catch sight of our destination for the night, the charming Bifertenhütte.
Early in the morning, we set off up the impressive Bänderweg towards the Bifertenstock. We enjoy the stunning views – probably all to ourselves – from this special Glarus peak. We take the descent back along the Bänderweg to the Limmeren Pass. From there, we follow the path down via the Limmerenband to Lake Limmeren. The access tunnel to the Kalktrittli takes us back to the cable car, which takes us back down into the valley.
We finish the tour together back in Tierfehd. We return home with impressive scenic images and a unique experience.
