Samnaun
Samnaun is a real insider tip for enjoyable freetouring experiences: a huge ski area with a modern lift network, all exposures and varied terrain, from wide powder snow slopes to hidden gullies. Unlike in well-known freeride hotspots such as Engelberg or Andermatt, the fresh snow here often remains untracked. There is time for wide turns, flow and pure riding pleasure.
Over four days, we make targeted use of the lifts to gain a lot of vertical metres and get into the terrain quickly. The focus is on long, varied descents and discovering remote lines that hardly anyone skis. Our local guide, who grew up in Samnaun and has been a local ski instructor for over ten years, knows every gully and every slope and ensures that we get the best conditions. He will give you sound tips on how to improve your off-piste technique, even at an advanced level.
Procedure and meeting place
These touring days are aimed at freetouring enthusiasts who already have experience in deep snow and with different types of snow. The programme is ideal for all those who have already completed an off-piste technique course and would like to develop their skills in open terrain. You can expect a balanced mix of learning, enjoyable skiing and exploring remote lines in a small, motivated group.
We get to know each other in the morning at the agreed meeting point and then take the cable car to the ski area together.
We start with a relaxed warm-up in the terrain, get to know each other as a group and immerse ourselves in the first descents in gently accessible off-piste terrain.
Over the next three days, we will intensively improve your off-piste skiing skills. With targeted technical input and personalised tips, we will improve your cornering technique, balance and vision, always adapted to the snow conditions and terrain. You will learn to read the terrain, consciously choose lines and find your own personal flow in deep snow. Whether it's playful variations, wide slopes or more challenging routes, you'll put what you've learnt directly into practice. The last day is all about the freeride experience: longer runs, independent line selection, teamwork and maximum enjoyment in the best snow we can find.
We say goodbye to each other on Sunday afternoon. Everyone travelled home on their own, but with many shared moments in mind that will stay with us for a long time to come.
Requirements
- Safe downhill technique in open terrain and in different types of snow.
- Ideally, you have already attended a first technique course or ski safely in different terrain.
- You enjoy skiing.
- Mastering the ski touring technique (skins, hairpin turns).
- Fitness for ski tours with around 500 metres at a leisurely pace (~300m/h) and significantly more downhill.
- Splitboarders are welcome.

- Small group with 4 - 8 guests per mountain guide.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
