The Andermatt-Disentis region is one of the most varied mountain regions in Switzerland. Around the Gemsstock, Furka Pass and Oberalp Pass, an impressive alpine landscape opens up with numerous opportunities for ski tours, freeride descents, alpine tours and alpine training. Thanks to its central location in the Gotthard massif, several valleys and mountain ranges meet here. This creates a wide variety of tour options: from enjoyable ski tours in winter to alpine climbing and high-altitude tours in summer. Frequently asked questions about our offers in Andermatt and Disentis

  • What makes this region special?

Andermatt and Disentis are very centrally located and are easily accessible by train and car all year round. Thanks to their location in the Gotthard and Oberalp region, they are considered snow-sure regions. The combination of high alpine terrain, varied touring options and quick access by train and mountain railway makes Andermatt and Disentis the ideal starting point for ski tours, climbing tours, ski mountaineering and freeride adventures.

  • When is the best time for ski touring?

The main season lasts from December to the end of April, with the best powder conditions in January and February. Ski mountaineering and glacier tours are often possible until May.

  • What are the most beautiful ski tours around Andermatt?

In the Andermatt-Disentis region, you can explore both classic ski tours and secluded, rarely travelled destinations with us. The region is also ideal for steep skiing and freetouring courses, which focus on technique, line choice and safety in more challenging terrain. A special highlight is the Uri Haute Route. A five-day traverse from Andermatt to Engelberg with overnight stays in huts and impressive descents. Beginners will also find numerous enjoyable tours with clear terrain and safe conditions: Perfect for gaining your first experience of touring terrain.

  • Can I also take part in your courses with a splitboard?

Yes, experienced splitboarders are very welcome on our courses.
Our mountain guides are familiar with the handling and special features of splitboards and adapt content such as ascent technique, hairpin bends, line choice and safety aspects accordingly.
It is important that your equipment is suitable for the terrain and that you are familiar with the handling.

  • How does the journey work and where do we meet?

We usually meet directly in Andermatt or Disentis at a location that is easily accessible by public transport or private car.

    Typical meeting places are

    • the valley station of the Gemsstock cable car (Andermatt)
    • the Disentis 3000 mountain railway
    • the railway station Andermatt, Realp or Disentis/Mustér
    • Selected car parks near the tour

We always choose the meeting point so that it is possible to travel by public transport or we form car pools from an agreed railway station.
You will receive the exact location by e-mail a few days before the start of the tour.

  • Is Andermatt also worth a visit in summer?

Yes! In summer we find ideal conditions for climbing courses, alpine tours and alpine training days. Perfect for improving technique, rope handling and safety on the rock.

  • How much does a guided tour in Andermatt cost?

Prices vary depending on the tour, group size and programme. A private day tour costs CHF 890, for group tours the price is reduced depending on the size of the group and the number of people. You can find out more under our offers. We are also happy to advise you individually.

  • How do I find a mountain guide for my private tour?

It's simple: get in touch via our contact form or call our Bergschaft direct number. We will provide you with a certified mountain guide who will perfectly match your level and wishes. You can also find current group offers on our website if you would like to join an existing tour.

  • What does Bergschaft offer in Andermatt?

Our mountain guides will take you on enjoyable day ski tours, alpine summits or adventurous freeride descents and multi-day ski crossings. In summer, we organise climbing and mountain tours, alpine training days and individual courses on technique and rope handling.

  • Can I book the tours/courses on my own and join a group?

Yes, absolutely. Many of our guests register alone and make new friends on site. As Bergschaft, the community is important to us. We make sure that the ability, fitness and expectations within the group match so that you feel comfortable at all times. Small groups in particular often lead to valuable encounters, shared learning and real rope team moments. So you don't have to bring your own group. You are also welcome to come alone at any time.
