The Galenstock towers high above Andermatt and beckons with the best granite, clear mountain air and impressive views. Our destination is the elegant south-east spur - one of the most rewarding routes on this proud summit. Together we climb over the glacier to the start, before a varied climb in the third degree of difficulty awaits us. The route offers everything that makes a classic high-altitude tour: airy ridges, glaciers and firn and marvellous climbing sections in solid granite. At the summit, we are rewarded with a first-class panorama - with views far across the Uri and Valais Alps. As a day tour, the undertaking is somewhat longer, which is why a solid level of fitness and enjoyment of extended days in the mountains are important. If you fancy a real high-altitude tour with a climbing character, this is the right place for you!
Procedure and meeting place
Wir treffen uns am frühen Morgen auf dem Furkapass. Wir können dazu Fahrgemeinschaften bilden, oder du kannst am Vorabend anreisen und im Hotel Tiefenbach auf dem Pass übernachten.
We climb first along the hiking trail, then over the glacier to the foot of the SE spur.
The SE spur leads over the best granite in the third degree of difficulty to the firn ridge. The climbing is varied and easy to do with mountain boots. The firn ridge leads to the summit with crampons.
Back along the firn ridge and via the well-maintained abseil piste back to the basin of the Sidelenhütte and along the hiking trail back to the car park.
Wir schliessen die Tour gemeinsam wieder bei den Fahrzeugen ab. Gemeinsame oder individuelle Heimfahrt.
Requirements
- Experience in alpine tours and climbing with mountain boots.
- Climbing at the third level of difficulty.
- Stamina for a day tour of around 1200 metres and 10 hours.

- CHF 525.-
- Rope team with 2 guests per mountain guide.
- Including professional planning and guidance with Swiss mountain guides.
- Excluding personal travel, share of car pool.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
