The Dent Blanche is one of the most beautiful four-thousand metre peaks in the Alps. Its striking summit towers above the Val d'Hérens - proud, remote and surrounded by impressive glacier landscapes. This tour is a complete alpine experience: from the long hut ascent to the secluded hut life to the challenging ridge climbing in the middle of an imposing high mountain arena.

Procedure and content
We meet the evening before the tour at the Cabane de la Dent Blanche, at 5.00 pm at the latest. The ascent from Ferpècle to the hut is long, demanding and scenically impressive. You climb up to the hut through lonely high mountain scenery and over partly bouldery terrain. We recommend setting off early so that you have enough time and rest for the ascent. The Cabane de la Dent Blanche (3507 m) is in a spectacular location: it is perched in solitude on a rocky spur high above the Glacier de Ferpècle - with magnificent views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks. We spend the night here and prepare for the summit day.
We set off early in the morning in the light of our headlamps and cross the impressive glacier plateau below the Dent Blanche. We soon reach the start of the south ridge, an impressive alpine route that combines varied climbing up to grade 3, firn passages and exposed passages. Always surrounded by high alpine scenery, we climb towards the summit in the morning sun. Once at the top, one of the most magnificent panoramas in the Alps awaits us, with views of the Matterhorn, Weisshorn, Zinalrothorn, Mont Blanc and many other four-thousand-metre peaks. The descent back to the hut follows the same route. Depending on your condition and personal requirements, we recommend another overnight stay at the Cabane de la Dent Blanche before returning to the valley the following day.
Requirements
- You have already gained experience on high-altitude routes and can climb up to grade 3 in mountaineering boots.
- Walking on crampons is no problem for you and you have already gained some experience with them.
- You feel comfortable in exposed terrain and have already climbed a few ridges.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.

Cabane de la Dent Blanche
The Cabane de la Dent Blanche is spectacularly situated on a rocky spur high above the Val d'Hérens, in the heart of the Valais Alps. At 3507 metres above sea level, it sits enthroned above enormous glacier quarries, with an unobstructed view of some of the most famous four-thousand-metre peaks in the Alps: the Matterhorn, Weisshorn, Dent d'Hérens, Zinalrothorn and, of course, the Dent Blanche itself. The hut is simple but well run, with warm hospitality and everything you need for a night in the high mountains. The silence, the stars and the light of the evening sun on the glaciers make your stay an unforgettable experience.

From the booking and communication right through to the tour itself, everything was perfect. There were five pairs of climbers in total, which also made for a very entertaining evening in the hut.
