Great scrambling and a fantastic atmosphere on a secluded traverse.

On the secluded traverse of the Ruederstock, we take in the magnificent rock formations of the Sewen area. In a brilliant scramble, we first climb the buttress together and then the ridge to the summit. The scramble through the buttress is graded 3 and varied, at times featuring a small crack, at times offering small holds, and at times crossing a small bulge. The buttress is about three rope lengths long, after which the route continues along the ridge to the summit. The ridge is beautifully exposed, but offers good holds and is well-stepped. Typical mountaineering terrain. At the summit, we’ll enjoy the view of the Uri mountains and the secluded mountain experience. The descent is via abseiling back down to the footpath. If you have little or no experience of abseiling, that’s no problem. The mountain guide can lower you down and give you instructions. A fantastic circular route with everything that makes mountaineering special.
Procedure and meeting place
We’ll meet at around 9.15 am at the Sewenhütte / Gorezmettlen car park. As your mountain guide will be continuing on via the Susten Pass afterwards, participants travelling from Erstfeld can organise a carpool. The train arrives in Erstfeld at 8.24 am.
The approach leads along a comfortable hiking trail past the hut to the start of the ridge.
The traverse starts with 3 pitches on the 3rd difficulty ridge. This is followed by an easier section before the route continues over an airy ridge to the summit. Here we enjoy the lonely mountain world before we abseil 3 times and hike back to the hut.
On the way down, we pass the Sewenhütte again, where we raise a glass to our trip together and stop for a bite to eat before heading all the way back down into the valley.
Requirements
- Experience in easy scrambling and moving in pathless terrain.
- Climbing sections in the 3rd degree.
- Condition for high altitude tours with around 1000hm ascent and descent at a comfortable pace (~300hm/h).

- Rope team with 2 guests per mountain guide.
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- The travelling costs by car will be divided among the participants.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.

- For this tour you need the following material from this PDF. We carry our equipment with us all the time. Pack only what is necessary.
Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
