Crossing from Schächental to Muotathal
Through wild mountains with beautiful powder and a long descent!
The area around Muotathal has received a lot of snow and once again there is enough snow to ski down to Muotathal. Together we take advantage of this and make an exciting and varied crossing from Schächental to Muotathal. We take one of the rustic cable cars from Schächental and make around 1000 metres of ascent and 2000 metres of descent. We make some cool slopes with a perfect gradient to really enjoy the powder! Sunny ascents, wild limestone walls and brilliant descents await us! In the Muota Valley, the taxi picks us up where the snow ends.
Venue & meeting point
- from the Schächen valley to Muotathal
- Meeting point: 8.08 in Altdorf and onward journey by bus to the railway station
- ca 15.00 Muotathal
- If you are travelling by car, it is best to park it in Schwyz
Requirements
- Mastering the ski touring technique with its basics (skins, hairpin turns).
- Safe downhill technique in open terrain and in different types of snow.
- Condition for around 1000 metres ascent at normal speed (~300m/h) and significantly more descent.
- Splitboarders are welcome, provided they are experienced.
Group size
- Takes place with 4 - 7 guests per mountain guide.

- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, possible taxi rides, personal consumption.

- We have for you a detailed packing list with packing tips compiled.
- For this tour you need the following material from this PDF. We carry our equipment with us all the time. Pack only what is necessary.
Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
