Ski mountaineering coaching course Monte Rosa
Fine-tuning for high-altitude ski tours. We provide you with targeted support to strengthen your technique, tactics and self-confidence for your own endeavours.
Have you already gained independent experience on high-altitude ski tours, but would like to improve your technique and skills? In our coaching sessions, we accompany you on selected tours and cater to your individual needs: more efficient hairpin turns, clean rope handling, crevasse rescue training, safe descents in steep terrain or tour planning in complex situations. Depending on your level, we will pick you up and help you take the next step - for even more safety and enjoyment on independent high-altitude ski tours and haute routes.
Target price: After the coaching, you will be able to confidently and safely plan and organise your own ski tours - even in challenging terrain.
Procedure and meeting place
In these four-day ski touring coaching days, you will learn how to deepen your knowledge in alpine terrain. Together with a mountain guide, we repeat important techniques, practise rope handling and apply what you have learnt directly on varied tours. Step by step, you will take on more responsibility for planning and carrying out your own tours, gaining confidence and routine for your own challenging alpine ski tours.
We meet at Zermatt railway station, at the kiosk.
We climb together over the Klein Matterhorn to the Monte Rosa hut. On our first tour, we get to know each other as a group and find our first practical practice areas.
In the evening, we discuss the tour for the next day together. You will learn to make decisions adapted to the conditions and terrain. There are various options available around the Monte Rosa hut.
During these four days you will learn:
- Focus on route planning with variants
- Decision-making process in the field - Decision-making
- Route selection
- Navigation
- Rope handling refresher
- Use of rope on steep ascents and descents
- Roping up and behaviour in crevasse zones
- Refresher course in crevasse rescue
After this course, you will be well prepared to plan and carry out challenging ski mountaineering tours and haute routes independently.
Our days end back in Zermatt. With new knowledge and plenty of practical experience, we set off on our individual journeys home.
