Trento VS

Have you already gained independent experience on high-altitude ski tours, but would like to improve your technique and skills? In our coaching sessions, we accompany you on selected tours and cater to your individual needs: more efficient hairpin turns, clean rope handling, crevasse rescue training, safe descents in steep terrain or tour planning in complex situations. Depending on your level, we will pick you up and help you take the next step - for even more safety and enjoyment on independent high-altitude ski tours and haute routes.

Course objective: After the coaching, you will be able to confidently and safely plan and carry out independent ski tours - even in challenging terrain.

  • Procedure and meeting place

In these four-day ski touring coaching days, you will learn how to deepen your knowledge in alpine terrain. Together with a mountain guide, we repeat important techniques, practise rope handling and apply what you have learnt directly on varied tours. Step by step, you will take on more responsibility for planning and carrying out your own tours, gaining confidence and routine for your own challenging alpine ski tours.

    • Meeting place

11 a.m. Grandes Montets valley station

Individual journey to Argentiere. We meet at the Grandes Montets valley station.

    • Day 1 - Arrival and access to Refuge Argentiere

The ascent with the Grandes Montets cable car already impresses with a fantastic view of Chamonix and the Glacier d'Argentière. After descending from the mountain station, we head over the Glacier des Rognons to the Glacier d'Argentière, where we spend the night in the hut of the same name. On this introductory tour, we get to know each other as a group, clarify your expectations and spend the first evening together at the hut.

    • Day 2 - Application tour and Bivouac de l'Envers des Dorées

On a joint application tour, we will focus on your individual skills and practise various manoeuvres and techniques. We then arrive at the self-catering bivouac, where we cook together and spend the night.

    • Day 3 - Application tour and Cabane du Trient

We go on another tour together and expand our wealth of experience and skills. We spend our third night at the Cabane du Trient.

    • Day 4 - Application tour and descent into the valley

On a further application tour, we repeat what we have learnt and apply our skills. After these days, you will have gained enough confidence and self-assurance to undertake further beautiful high-altitude ski tours and crossings. Together we enjoy one last descent back to Argentiere.

    • Course contents

During these four days you will learn:

      • Focus on route planning with variants
      • Decision-making process in the field - Decision-making
      • Route selection
