In the high mountain basin, great ski tours with exciting crossings and imposing glaciers - in the newly rebuilt Gaulihütte!
The Gauli region is a marvellous high alpine ski touring paradise, ideal for four exciting days of ski touring. We start just before the Grimsel Pass and climb up to the Bächlitalhütte on the first day. On the second day, we head over the Obere Bächlilücke. This is equipped with ladders and chains and offers first alpine impressions and a little adventure. After a long descent, beautifully north-facing and with great slopes, we reach the Gaulisee and the Gaulihütte. We spend two nights here and choose the most beautiful tours in this basin. These all lead over impressive glaciers to perfect ski touring mountains with various downhill options. So we will look for a lonely mountain and the best possible downhill variants. On the last day we leave the Gauli area via the Rosenhorn and the large Rosenlouwig glacier. This is one of the best descents in the Alps! Across the crevasses, always north-facing and often powdery! Fantastic ski slopes over a distance of 2300 metres with various options! We arrive at the historic Hotel Rosenlaui. After refreshments and shared memories, we start our journey home by taxi, full of new memories and shared experiences. Four great and eventful days of ski touring together await us!
We meet at the railway station in Meiringen and take a taxi from there towards the Grimsel Pass.
From Rhätrichsboden we start the ascent to the Bächlitalhütte on our touring skis. As the ascent doesn't take a whole day, we choose a nice slope for our first turns in the snow.
On this day, the exciting crossing over the Obere Bächlilücke is already imminent. We start early and enjoy the ascent over the Bächligletscher and the Obere Bächlilücke. The crossing is exciting, we climb several ladders on the ascent and descend with chains and crampons onto the Hiendertelti glacier. From here, a wonderful descent leads down to the Gaulihütte.
From the Gaulihütte we enjoy a day of touring with a return to the hut. This allows us to store a lot of equipment and save energy. We adapt the tour destination to the conditions and our guests.
The final tour takes us via the Westliche Wätterlimi, the Ränfenhorn or the Rosenhorn over the Rosenlaui glacier down to the Rosenlaui valley. A very beautiful and peaceful tour with a lot of history. The taxi is already waiting for us in the Rosenlaui valley to take us back to Meiringen railway station.
