Monte Rosa ski tours with a mountain guide

• Planned tour schedule

  1. Day: Ride on the Klein Matterhorn railway to the Breithorn plateau. Descent via the Schwarztor to the Monte Rosa hut.
  2. Tour from the Monte Rosa hut - Jägerhorn, Stockhorn
  3. Tour from the Monte Rosa hut - Felikhorn, Signalkuppe, Zumsteinspitze
  4. Day: Enjoy the morning atmosphere. Possibly a short ascent to a summit and then a very long descent past the Monte Rosa hut, always with the Matterhorn in view. We will drive to the Rotenboden station of the Gorner Grat cable car and walk the last stretch before taking the cable car back to Zermatt.

• Requirements

  • Mastering the ski touring technique with its basics (skins, hairpin turns).
  • Safe downhill technique in open terrain and in different types of snow.
  • You have first experience with ice axe and crampons.
  • Stamina for ski tours of around 1200 metres at a normal pace (~300-350m/h). On the day to get to the Margheritta hut it's just over 1400 metres. Here we take our time to master the ascent.
  • Stamina for a 1400 metre descent in various types of snow.
  • In addition, there are sections where we carry the skis and trudge through the snow.
  • Splitboarders are welcome, provided they are experienced.

• Group size

  • Takes place with up to 6 guests per mountain guide.
