Spontaneous tour Chüenihorn with mountain guide
Spring ski touring pleasure in St. Antönien. Ronny takes you into his local mountains and knows when and where to find the best firn and snow.

The Chüenihorn in Prättigau is one of the most rewarding ski tour destinations around St. Antönien. Surrounded by the striking limestone walls of Sulzfluh and Drusenfluh this summit offers a wonderful combination of a varied ascent, wide ski terrain and a magnificent panorama over the Rätikon. We climb steadily towards the summit through sparse forest and alpine meadows. As we gain height, the view of the striking rock formations of the Rätikon opens up, while the terrain becomes ever wider and more alpine. The summit rewards us with a fantastic panoramic view over the Prättigau and the surrounding peaks. This is followed by the highlight of the day: the descent down the wide slopes back towards St. Antönien. Wonderful turns in beautiful spring firn and sulz await us on Saturday. The tour includes approx. 800 metres of ascent and descent.
Procedure and meeting place
We meet early to enjoy the tour with beautiful firn and slush on the descent. We will carpool from Landquart railway station to St. Antönien. We are happy if those who are able to travel by car indicate this in the registration form and give the other participants a lift. This will ensure that you meet Ronny in good time in St. Antönien at the P21 car park, Aschüel / driveway towards Michelshof behind the ski lift.
From the valley, we climb steadily towards the summit through sparse forest and alpine meadows. As the altitude increases, the view opens up to the striking rock formations of the Rätikon, while the terrain becomes ever wider and more alpine. The summit rewards us with a fantastic panoramic view over the Prättigau and the surrounding peaks. This is followed by the highlight of the day: the long descent down the wide slopes back towards St. Antönien. On Saturday, we can expect marvellous turns in beautiful spring firn and sulz.
Ronny finishes the tour with you in the valley. If the sun is shining brightly, you might even enjoy a cool drink on the sun terrace :)
Requirements
- Mastering the ski touring technique with its basics (skins, hairpin turns)
- Safe downhill technique in open terrain and in different types of snow
- Stamina for around 800 - 1000 metres ascent and descent at a leisurely pace.
- Splitboarders are welcome, provided they are experienced.

- Small group with 4 - 6 guests per mountain guide.
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
