Weisshorn crossing with mountain guide
The Weisshorn Traverse is one of the most impressive and challenging high-altitude tours in the Alps.
The Weisshorn is considered by many to be the most beautiful four-thousand-metre peak in the Alps. Elegant, exposed and uncompromising, it rises above the valley. Its traverse is one of the great classics of alpinism and is demanding, long and beautifully aesthetic.
Together, we’ll climb the Weisshorn from the Tracuit Hut via the Bishorn and the challenging north ridge. From the summit, we’ll descend via the east ridge to the Weisshorn Hut, where you can recover from the day’s exertions. We’ll experience one of the most impressive ridge tours in the Alps. The route takes us across vast glacial landscapes, steep firn and ice sections, and exposed rocky ridges.
This crossing is a conscious journey in high alpine terrain. We are travelling in a 1:1 rope team. The summit moment on the Weisshorn is quiet, grand and well deserved. The view extends over countless four-thousand-metre peaks and deep into the Valais.
Procedure and meeting place
We meet in the late afternoon at the Tracuit hut. The hut is reserved for you and the mountain guide and is included in the price.
We set off early from the Tracuithütte (around 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning). We ascend across a vast glacial landscape to the Bishorn. From there, we follow the impressive and challenging north ridge to the Weisshorn. The sweeping views and the deep vistas are just as fascinating as the ascent itself. At the Weisshorn, we savour the moment at the summit before setting off along the east ridge (the standard route up the Weisshorn) to the Weisshorn Hut. Several abseil sections await us. Once we arrive at the Weisshorn Hut, we refuel and recover from the long traverse. We recommend that you spend the night at the Weisshorn Hut and only make your way down to Randa the following day. This will allow you to savour the summit experience even more and descend into the valley feeling properly refreshed. The overnight stay at the Weisshorn Hut is also included in the price.
The mountain guide will either say goodbye to you on the summit day at the Weisshornhütte or stay one more night at the hut and descend with you to Randa the next day.
