Spontaneous Tour | Balmflue South Ridge
The best Jura limestone with a magnificent view of the still snow-covered Alps.
The Balmflue south ridge is a long, classic Jura climb. Varied terrain, beautiful limestone and a magnificent view of the still snow-covered Alps of the Bernese Oberland: a dream for every climber. The tour winds its way along the south ridge in many pitches. Many passages are in the 5th degree of difficulty and there are various variations and exit options. This means we can cater to your needs and enjoy a great day of climbing together. The approach to the climbing fun is via Oberrüttenen in approx. 30 minutes. After 15 pitches and 450 metres of climbing, we reach the summit, from where we hike back to the starting point in approx. 1 hour.

Requirements
- You have mastered securing
- You can climb up to 5b.
- Stamina for a climbing tour of around 5 hours and a leisurely ascent and descent (approx. 1.5 hours).

- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.
Material and equipment
- For this tour you need the material from this PDF. We carry our equipment with us the whole time. Only pack the essentials.
Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
