    10:30 am, Ponte Brolla railway station

    We’ll meet at the railway station in Ponte Brolla, get to know each other and discuss your expectations. Afterwards, we’ll head over together to the nearby climbing area. You can leave any extra luggage in the cars.

  • Day 1 - Introduction and refresher rock climbing in the climbing garden

    4a–5c

    Today we’re going climbing at the well-known crag in Ponte Brolla. The sun-drenched gneiss and the well-bolted routes offer the perfect conditions for learning the basics of rock climbing from scratch or refreshing your existing skills. We familiarise ourselves with the equipment, coordinate as a rope team and go through important commands, as well as the team set-up and partner check. The programme also covers choosing the right route, keeping the rope tidy, handling various belay devices and threading the rope correctly through the pulley. After an intensive day’s climbing, we round off the evening together, check into our hotel rooms and look forward to the next few days in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • Day 2 - Introduction and refresher multi-pitch climbing

    Today we’re focusing entirely on multi-pitch climbing, once again making the most of the fantastic routes in Ponte Brolla. The area is ideal for learning the more complex techniques step by step in a safe environment. We’ll learn how to set up belay stations, manage half-ropes, and abseil safely. We’ll also practise belaying each other and communicating across multiple pitches. With every belay station, you’ll gain more experience and climb higher. After an action-packed day on the crag, we’ll treat ourselves to a refreshing dip in the Maggia before rounding off the evening in a relaxed atmosphere at the hotel with some fine Ticino cuisine.

  • Days 3 and 4 – Practical sessions and in-depth study with a focus of your choice

    On the last two days of the course, the focus is on your personal development. In varied areas such as Torbeccio, Avegno and, finally, the beautiful Balladrum crag, we’ll make the most of your time on the rock:

    For multi-pitch climbers: You’ll apply what you’ve learnt independently on easy routes, gain confidence in setting belay stations, securing your partner and abseiling, and learn to reflect critically on your first self-led climbs.

    For sport climbers and those keen to hone their technique: you’ll work specifically on your climbing technique – from precise footwork and optimal clipping positions to energy-efficient movement patterns.

    We’ll go over the techniques, give you valuable feedback tailored to your individual level, and show you some tricks to help you take your climbing to the next level. We’ll celebrate the grand finale of the course at the Balladrum climbing centre, overlooking Lake Maggiore: we’ll round off four intense, action-packed days of climbing in a relaxed atmosphere with an ice cream together in the park.

  • Course content

    On this course, you’ll gain the skills you need to climb independently on rock and on well-secured multi-pitch routes. On the sun-drenched gneiss slabs of Ticino, you’ll learn how to handle your equipment safely, master clean rope and belay techniques, and communicate effectively within a rope team. Through personalised coaching at the climbing area and on multi-pitch routes, you’ll consolidate your practical skills and take your climbing technique to the next level.

    Having learnt a great deal and feeling full of motivation, we finish the course together back at Ponte Brolla station.

• Requirements

  • Climbing experience: You have experience of lead climbing and belaying indoors, and can lead climb routes up to grade 4.
  • Rock-climbing experience: Initial experience at a climbing centre or on multi-pitch routes is not essential, but provides an ideal foundation.
  • Fitness: Sufficient stamina for days spent climbing, with a leisurely ascent and descent.
  • Difficulty level: We climb routes ranging from 4a to 5c, tailored to your individual ability.

  We climb on well-secured single-pitch and multi-pitch routes. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to brush up on your skills, we’ll tailor the course to your individual level. We’ll support and challenge you on an individual basis so that you can consolidate the basics of rock climbing and, by the end of the course, climb well-secured multi-pitch routes independently and safely.

  • Includes accommodation in a double room at the hotel, with breakfast. Dinner can be taken at the hotel but is not included in the course fee.
