Basic rock climbing course | Introduction and use of the climbing garden with a mountain guide
Learn sport climbing on the rocks with us and be inspired! In two days, we will teach you the skills you need to climb independently and safely in a climbing garden.
Learn sport climbing with us and get inspired! In our two-day basic rock climbing course around the Lidernenhütte, we teach you everything you need to be safe and independent in the climbing garden. The area above Lake Lucerne, with its impressive mountain scenery, rock with a good grip and cosy hut, is the ideal place to learn the basics of rock climbing. Here you will find perfect conditions for practising directly on real rock - with views of the surrounding peaks and a dose of alpine flair.
On the first day, the focus is on training: you will learn how to tie in and belay yourself correctly, how to handle ropes and quickdraws and how threading and redirecting works. Our mountain guides will show you in a practical and understandable way what is important for safe climbing. The second day is dedicated to consolidation and application. You will repeat what you have learnt, consolidate your technique and gain confidence in independent climbing. With targeted exercises, individual feedback and plenty of time on the rock, you will gradually become more experienced and enjoy climbing in all its variety. Between the two days of the course, we spend a cosy night in the Lidernenhütte - with fine food, a convivial atmosphere and a view of the impressive mountains of Uri.
This course is the perfect introduction to the world of rock climbing - practical, exciting and in the midst of a uniquely beautiful alpine environment.
Procedure and course content
We meet at the valley station of the Chäppeliberg cable car in Riemenstalden.
Car parking spaces are available.
For all those travelling by public transport, we recommend making a reservation for the bus from Sisikon-Riemenstalden, which can be made by calling 041 817 75 00.
We get to know each other and clarify your expectations, then we take the cosy cable car and walk together to the climbing garden once we reach the top. We walk past the hut and can leave the equipment we don't need in the hut.
On our first day of the course, the focus is on familiarising yourself with rock climbing. Together we will familiarise ourselves with the climbing garden, learn how to use the equipment safely and practise basic techniques so that you can move safely and independently on the rock. The focus is on building confidence in yourself, your equipment and your climbing partner - with lots of practice, feedback and fun climbing.

We spend the evening together over a delicious dinner. We will have time to exchange ideas, ask questions or simply round off the day in a cosy atmosphere.
After a cosy breakfast, we start the second day of the course together. Today, the focus is on independently applying and consolidating what we have learnt.
Daily destination:
You apply what you have learnt safely and independently, improve your technique and gain routine and confidence in your skills, your equipment and your climbing partner. In the climbing garden, you will start by independently repeating the most important techniques from the previous day: correct belaying, clean clipping, efficient rope handling and safe threading. We then apply the knowledge directly on suitable routes to gain routine and confidence. Our mountain guides accompany you throughout the day, are always there to support you and give you valuable tips so that you can develop your climbing skills and enjoy being out on the rock. The focus is on refining your safety and sense of movement and experiencing rock climbing with joy and ease. You will have plenty of time to try out different routes, test your limits and get tips on how to improve your technique.
At the end of the course, we will reflect together on the day - what you have learnt, where you have made progress and how you can continue to practise climbing independently in the future. A day full of practice, sunshine and climbing fun in Ticino - the perfect end to your basic course!
We complete the course together.
