Endurance
Thanks to the modern mountain railway infrastructure, we quickly gain altitude and have a relaxed start to the day. After a short ascent on touring skis, the first descent opens up in front of us: eastwards and into a dreamlike, secluded valley far away from the hustle and bustle.
From there, we ascend again and decide on a suitable crossing and location for our lunch break, taking into account the avalanche situation and conditions. Strengthened, another descent awaits us: south-facing and with plenty of room for beautiful turns into another side valley. From there, the bus takes us comfortably back to the starting point. As we are travelling on touring skis, new slopes and surprisingly good skiing terrain are constantly opening up along the way.
Procedure and meeting place
We meet in Davos Platz, at the valley station of the Jakobshorn cable car. You are welcome to buy your ticket to the Jakobshorn (ascent).
From the Jakobshorn, we first ski down a short stretch, put on our skins and then climb about 150 metres before enjoying a first east-facing descent into a beautiful, secluded valley far away from the hustle and bustle. From there we climb another 400 metres and stop for lunch before enjoying a south-facing descent into another side valley.
The bus takes us back to the starting point, Davos Platz. There we say goodbye to each other and return home individually with fond memories of the day.
Requirements
- Safe downhill technique in open terrain and in different types of snow.
- You enjoy skiing
- Mastering the ski touring technique (skins, hairpin turns).
- Stamina for ski tours with around 600 - 800 metres at a leisurely pace (~300m/h) and significantly more downhill.
- Splitboarders are welcome, provided they are experienced.
Price and services
- CHF 195.-
- Small group with 4 - 7 guests per mountain guide.
- Including organisation and travel expenses from the mountain guide.
- Excluding personal travelling expenses, train tickets and consumptions.
Material and equipment
- For this tour you need the material from this PDF. We carry our equipment with us all the time. Pack only what is necessary.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
