Climbing Tour | Crossing the Galtigen Towers on Mount Pilatus
A lovely, impressive yet easy scrambling route up Mount Pilatus with a fantastic view of Lake Lucerne!

The Galtigen Towers are among the best-known classic climbs on Mount Pilatus, and for good reason. The traverse leads over several striking rock towers and offers a varied mix of beautiful climbing, exposed ridge sections and impressive views down to Lake Lucerne. Accompanied by our mountain guide, you’ll set off along the ridge. The route alternates between sections with good holds, short walking sections and exposed traverses. The final tower of the Galtigengrat is particularly thrilling, with superb climbing sections and a magnificent view down to Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains. Throughout the tour, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the unique landscape and the views of the lake, the surrounding mountains and Mount Pilatus. After the climb, we follow narrow mountain paths on to the summit of Mount Pilatus. There, we round off our eventful day at a leisurely pace before taking the cable car back down into the valley. The Galtigen Towers offer a varied mountain experience high above Lake Lucerne.
Procedure and meeting place
We meet in the morning at Alpnachstad railway station, where we take the funicular railway to Ämsigen.
From Ämsigen we set off on our alpine adventure: the crossing of the Galgen towers - an impressive ridge climb with plenty of panoramic views, airy passages and magnificent rock.
At Pilatus, we take the funicular railway back down to the valley.
Requirements
- You have some basic experience of climbing / scrambling.
- Climbing in the 3rd and one place in the 4th degree of difficulty.
- Stamina for an ascent of around 800 metres at a leisurely pace (~300m/h).

- CHF 490.-
- Rope team with 2 guests per mountain guide.
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.

Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
