Moiry, Valais

Join us as we delve into the world of high-altitude mountaineering and experience and learn the techniques and tactics of climbing. Together we’ll set off, learn how to use ice axes and crampons, and explore the impressive Glacier de Moiry. We’ll practise rope shortening and rope handling on easy rock ridges and learn to recognise alpine hazards early on and deal with them safely. And of course, we’ll make sure we enjoy a shared summit experience! This Rock & Ice course takes place at the Cabanne du Moiry in Valais. Thanks to the short approach of just 1.5 hours, we’ll start with the practical exercises on the very first day. The mountains surrounding the hut offer ideal conditions for training tours: short, varied routes on rock and ice – always accompanied by the impressive views of the surrounding Valais 4,000-metre peaks.

We had 4 great days! We learnt a lot. We had a challenging application tour, which Simon guided us through easily and safely. The area was very varied and we were able to familiarise ourselves with all aspects of a high-altitude tour. Thank you, it was great!
  • Thomas Merhof

It was a very instructive and varied course. I can only recommend it to newcomers to the mountains.
