Ascent of the Tödi at Easter

The Tödi is the highest peak in the Glarus region and this tour is one of the most consistent ways to climb it: Ground Up. One Push. We start in Tierfehd, ride our e-bikes to the summit until the snow starts to fall and climb up to Tödi (3614 m) under our own steam in one day. Yes, it's going to be a long, awesome day!

We start early. In the middle of the night, to be precise. Depending on the snow and road conditions, we start with e-bike support as far as the snow. We then ski deep into the valley, into the impressive Biferten glacier area. We work our way across extensive, open glacier areas, metre by metre, towards the summit structure, until we reach the majestic crest of the Tödi.

This tour is an endurance tour and is aimed at strong ski tourers with efficient technique, very good physical condition and some alpine touring experience. Those who dare to make the push will be rewarded with a rare experience: a complete „From Valley to Summit“ ascent and an endless descent over large glaciers back down to the valley.

  • Procedure and meeting place

    • Meeting place

      approx. 03:00 a.m., Tierfehd

We meet in Tierfehd. In the headlights of our head torches, we start this adventure early in the morning. There is also a hotel here and you can spend the evening and night before if you wish. Please make your own reservation.

    • E-bike to the snow

      300 Hm

Our destination today is the Tödi “From Valley to Summit”. Depending on the snow and road conditions, we set off with e-bike support in the direction of Fridolinshütte. Often up to around 1080 metres above sea level (Vorderleger - Hinterbalm). If you don't have your own e-bike, you can hire one in Glarus, or the mountain guide may have one for you. The mountain guide will show you how to securely attach your skis to the bike.

    • Day tour Tödi

      2500 metres altitude

      2500 metres altitude

We ascend at a steady pace on skis towards Tödi. We make sure we take enough breaks along the way and manage our energy and strength well. Once we reach the summit, we savour this achievement and enjoy the experience. However, we can't really get enough of it, as there is still a long, almost never-ending descent back down into the valley waiting for us. As compensation, a cool beer beckons back down in the valley. This overall experience of exertion, adventure and accomplishment is worth celebrating! 🙂

    • Conclusion

      approx. 16:00

We finish the tour together back in the valley.
