Ski touring trip to Finnmark | by boat and on skis in the remote north of Norway

• Programme and itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrival in Alta

    We’re flying to Alta, in the far north of Norway. The flight is comfortable, with just one stopover. After the flight, we’ll spend the night in Alta straight away. The next morning, our host will pick us up and we’ll travel by ferry and car to our accommodation. We’ll set off on our first ski tour either during the journey or once we’ve arrived at our accommodation. The journey takes us through the vast Nordic landscape. Along the way, our gaze sweeps over rolling hills, frozen lakes and snow-covered fjords, until we finally reach our special destination: our accommodation on the Nuvsfjord.

    Our home for the next few days is right by the sea – in a setting that could scarcely be more peaceful and striking. The gentle lapping of the waves, the crunch of snow beneath your feet and the play of light across the fjord create an atmosphere of profound tranquillity and Nordic wilderness. Here, we immediately sense how the hustle and bustle of everyday life fades away, making way for adventure, nature and a genuine chance to slow down. The Sauna and the Hot tub right by the sea are also waiting for us!

  • Day 2-7 - Ski tours in Finnmark

    600-1200m

    On seven days of skiing we explore various areas and peaks around Stjernsundet, the Altafjord and of course the Nuvsfjord and the neighbouring fjords.

    Experience an unforgettable ski tour where we often start right by the sea. From there, we ascend between 600 and 1,200 metres in altitude and enjoy an impressive variety of terrain - from wide, gentle slopes to sporty gullies and couloirs.

    Even when the weather is changeable, the options remain varied: we can head to lower altitudes with enchanting birch forests and undertake equally beautiful tours there. Those looking for something special can also look forward to ski tours by boat - a unique combination of sea and mountains, which we are happy to organise as required.

    In addition to the sporting highlights, we immerse ourselves in the local culture. Whether meeting local people or discovering regional specialities - we experience the country with all our senses. And even on days when the weather doesn't play ball, there is plenty to discover and do.

  • Day 8

    We say goodbye to our home of the last few days and enjoy the special atmosphere of Nuvsfjord one last time. We then travel in the direction of Alta.

    On the way, we’ll go on another impressive ski tour and soak up the white expanse of the Nordic landscape. In the evening, we check into our cosy rooms in Alta, the lively heart of Finnmark. The town is picturesquely situated on the Altafjord and is renowned for its spectacular Northern Lights, its fascinating Sami culture and the famous rock carvings, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    In the evening, we enjoy a fine meal together in a selected restaurant and review the experiences of the past few days. Perhaps the first ideas for our next adventure in the coming year will emerge - the perfect opportunity to make new plans and round off the trip in style.

  • Day 9 - Return journey

    After a final breakfast together, we hand over our hire vehicles and set off on our journey home with many wonderful memories in our luggage.

• Requirements

  • Solid ski touring technique, including the basics (skins, kick turns). These are often standard ski tours, similar to those we are familiar with in Switzerland. Where possible, we also include tours that involve glacier crossings and sections where we have to take our skis off or walk part of the way.
  • Safe skiing techniques in open terrain and on various types of snow. Norway has it all: from deep powder snow to wind-packed snow and crusted snow, right through to perfect firn or icy sections.
  • Fitness for a 1,200hm climb at a leisurely pace over the course of a week. Some days we’ll cover less than 1,200hm and others more. We’ll organise the hikes so that we have enough energy to last the whole week!
  • Enjoying wintry conditions and changeable weather
  • Experienced splitboarders are welcome.

  • CHF 3690.- for the entire trip for 5 or more participants
  • Small group up to a maximum of 6 guests per mountain guide.
