Spitzmeilen

A weekend full of enjoyable moments in the snow: around the Spitzmeilenhütte SAC we go on varied, rather leisurely ski tours in a fantastic winter landscape. The focus is on beautiful descents in powder snow and less on technical challenges; a good basic level of fitness is sufficient. Our mountain guides select the best slopes every day and adapt the tours flexibly to the conditions and the group. In addition to classics such as the Spitzmeilen or Wissmeilen, there are many other rewarding summit destinations and marvellous descents waiting to be discovered. Whenever possible, we also use the lift so that we have more time for what counts - enjoyable turns in the fresh snow. We spend the night in the cosy Spitzmeilenhütte at 2,087 m, where fine food, a warm parlour and delicious cake await us. On Sunday, we move on and leave the hustle and bustle behind. After a leisurely ascent, the crowning finale follows: the endlessly long descent through the valley, always on the lookout for the best snow - the highlight of the weekend, before the taxi takes us back in comfort.

This weekend is ideal for anyone looking for leisurely ski tours, plenty of downhill metres and the experience of being part of a group. Come along on a ski touring weekend that is all about enjoyment, community and powder snow!

  • Procedure and meeting place

    • Meeting place

      09:15 am, Unterterzen valley station

We meet in Unterterzen at the valley station.

    • Day 1

      700 Hm

      900 metres altitude

      WS

We travel comfortably by cable car to the Maschgenkamm and enjoy our first rapid descent. From there, we look for the best untracked slopes and enjoy the powder snow to the full. The Spitzmeilen or Wissmeilen are possible summit destinations - but the area has many other, lesser-known summits and routes in store. We decide flexibly on the spot where the best conditions and the fewest tracks can be found. In the evening, we enjoy the cosy atmosphere in the Spitzmeilen hut, round off the day with a delicious meal and plan the tour for the next day together - full of anticipation for more beautiful descents.

    • Day 2

      500 Hm

      1700 metres altitude

      WS

On the second day, we set off in the direction of Wissgandstöckli. Today, too, we look for the best, untracked slopes away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the silence and vastness of the wintry mountains. The big highlight of the day is the long descent through the Schilstal valley - a pleasure right up to the last turn. Your legs will be burning, but the broad grin will remain: a perfect end to an eventful weekend. At the bottom of the valley, the taxi is already waiting to take us back to Unterterzen or Sargans in comfort.
