5-litre tour | Round tour Schilt to Lake Walen
Grandiose round tour from the Schilt ski lift with lots of downhill skiing!
After the long-awaited snowfall last weekend, we are enjoying the snow right down to the lower altitudes! It's great that it's now possible to undertake the “5-Liber” tour. A traverse of the Glarus Alps from the Schilt ski lift to just before Lake Walen! The Schilt in the Glarus Alps is the summit that was the first Swiss peak to be climbed on skis. In those days, the Schilt ski lift and descent from Zurich railway station cost 5 litres (5 francs). Hence the name. We undertake this fantastic round tour with an ascent of almost 1000 metres and a descent of around 2000 metres! So we don't mind if we have to walk down the last few minutes.
Procedure and meeting place
We meet in the morning at Näfels-Mollis railway station. From there we take a taxi to the valley station of the Fronalp ski lift and take the ski lift to the starting point.
We enjoy the day in the snow together. We climb the Schilt, enjoy the view and take a great descent down the long slopes to Mürtschenalp. From there we ascend again so that we can then ski down to Obstalden.
We finish the tour together in Obstalden on Lake Walen.
