Introductory Course in Ski Touring and Avalanche Safety | Safiental at the Berghotel with a mountain guide
We accompany you into the world of ski touring - in 4 days with enough time!
This four-day course is varied, exciting and provides a solid foundation for planning and undertaking ski tours independently in the future. During the training and practical tours, we’ll teach you the basics of how to move efficiently on your touring skis, as well as key fundamentals of avalanche awareness. We’ll also provide you with targeted support through personalised feedback. Over the four days, we’ll have plenty of time to cover all aspects of ski touring. The Safiental, with its diverse terrain and perfect peaks, is an outstanding area for ski touring and training. What is almost unique is that safe ascents can be made in the Safiental at any avalanche danger level. The descents are consistently steep and the terrain is simply brilliant.
Target price: You’ll learn all the basics of ski touring and will then be able to undertake easy tours on your own and join guided ski tours ranging from easy to moderately difficult.
Course content & procedure
We meet at the back of the Safiental, at the Turrahus mountain inn in Turra. There we will get to know each other during a short round of introductions and start the course. We will leave our luggage at the accommodation.
We’ll kick off the course with a leisurely ski tour. Throughout the tour, we’ll explain and discuss the key aspects of ski touring. On the first day, we’ll learn a lot of new things through hands-on, practical exercises. We’ll take the time to deliberately go over the topics several times to ensure everyone feels confident.
