Climbing trip to the Dolomites | Coaching in trad and clean climbing with a Swiss mountain guide
Classic Dolomite tours: easy routes in grade IV, traditionally secured and with varied descents. Classically guided and as part of a coaching programme!
Together we are travelling to a very special mountain range: the Dolomites. Known for their impressive landscape, rugged towers and steep walls rise directly out of green meadows and forests - interspersed with couloirs, ridges and striking rock formations. Despite the steepness, the classic routes in grade IV are surprisingly pleasant to climb - grippy, logical and full of climbing fun. During these days, we climb varied alpine multi-pitch routes, where the descent is often an adventure too: with abseiling passages, terrain orientation and personal responsibility. This is precisely why the Dolomites are perfect for sustainable trad and leadership training: in a protected environment, you take on responsibility, make decisions and lead your rope team - accompanied by experienced mountain guides.
We coach you individually and directly on the rock. An intensive learning experience in one of the most impressive climbing areas in Europe.
Procedure and meeting place
We offer you the opportunity to enjoy guided tours, learn a lot and gain your own valuable experience.
With our modern leadership style, we impart practical knowledge and create a safe environment in which you can apply it directly. Together we climb breathtaking multi-pitch routes - as a real rope team.
Wherever it suits you, you can take the lead, lead the way and make decisions yourself. When you want to lean back, we'll take over again - flexibly, at your own pace.
In the evening, we reflect together on what we have experienced and learnt. Feedback is a central part of the development process for us: honest, constructive and at eye level. We use the new insights to plan the next tour together, customised to your goals, your level and your wishes.

Questions and answers about climbing in the Dolomites, and how to relax your legs at the belay station when the view takes your breath away? ¿
What level of climbing experience do I need for a climbing trip to the Dolomites?
You should have solid experience of rock climbing and multi-pitch climbing outdoors, including lead climbing. Being able to climb routes rated 4th and 5th degree of difficulty (4c–5c on top rope) provides a good foundation. As we’ll be in alpine terrain, a head for heights, sure-footedness and the fitness required for full-day tours and ascents/descents are essential.
What makes climbing in the Dolomites different from climbing in the Swiss Alps?
The dolomite rock is extremely textured, offers excellent grip and provides steep wall climbing on holes, ledges and flakes. The routes often follow natural weaknesses in the rock face. What’s more, this is where alpine tradition, towering walls and South Tyrolean hospitality come together.
How are the climbing routes in the Dolomites secured?
The spectrum ranges from well-secured recreational routes to classic Alpine tours where pitons are more sparsely placed. Your mountain guide will select routes to suit the group’s ability and preferences, and will provide mobile belaying at tricky sections where necessary.
What kit do I need for the Dolomites climbing trip?
You will need your own climbing kit (harness, climbing helmet, climbing shoes, belay device) as well as sturdy approach shoes or lightweight hiking boots for the ascent and descent. A small climbing rucksack (approx. 20–30 litres) for food, a windcheater and approach shoes is also required. If you have them, please bring your own rope, portable belay devices such as Friends and nuts, as well as quickdraws and carabiners. Our mountain guides will supplement the equipment to ensure there is enough of everything.
Where will we be staying during the climbing week?
We stay in carefully selected, cosy hotels or mountain inns (e.g. in the Puster Valley, the Fassa Valley or around Cortina d’Ampezzo). This means that after a long day’s climbing, we can enjoy the comfort of a warm shower and excellent South Tyrolean food.
When is the best time of year for climbing in the Dolomites?
The ideal season runs from June to October. In early summer, you can enjoy superb grip on the sun-drenched south-facing faces, whilst late summer and early autumn offer stable weather conditions and mild temperatures on the higher routes. We organise our climbing trips in the autumn so that we can keep all our options open.
