Endurance
The Pizol is a panoramic summit with an easy but varied ascent at the end. This gives the summit an alpine flair! We start the tour at the highest point of the Pizol cable car. A first short ascent and a short descent take us into the secluded mountain basin of the Pizol. Here we take our eyes off the ski area for good and tackle the rest of the ascent to our destination for the day. The last ascent on skis is a little steeper before we tackle the ascent to the summit on foot. If you feel unsafe there, the mountain guide will take you on a short rope. The alpine ascent to the summit is also optional. On the Pizol we enjoy the wonderful panoramic view. We will take a break in the saddle, where we have more space to sit comfortably and continue marvelling. The descent is long and takes us back to the Pizol ski area. From there, we take advantage of the superbly groomed pistes of the Pizol cable cars down to the valley. A wonderful day with a fulfilling experience.
Procedure and meeting place
We meet in Wangs at the Pizol railway. From there, we take the cable car up to the highest point.
The tour starts from the highest point of the ski area. A first short ascent and descent takes us into the deserted basin of the Pizol. The mountains here are pointed and impressive, the ascent leisurely and homogeneous. The last ascent on skis is a little steeper before we tackle the summit ascent on foot. If you feel unsafe there, the mountain guide will take you on a short rope. The alpine ascent to the summit is also optional. On the Pizol we enjoy the wonderful panoramic view. We will take a break in the saddle, where we have more space to sit comfortably and continue marvelling. The descent is long and takes us back to the Pizol ski area. We ski down to the valley on the perfectly groomed pistes of the Pizol lifts.
We finish the tour back in Wangs with a great experience.
Requirements
- Mastering the ski touring technique with its basics (skins, hairpin turns).
- Safe downhill technique in open terrain and in different types of snow.
- Stamina for ski tours of around 700 metres at a leisurely pace (~300m/h).
- Condition for 1500m descent in different types of snow.
- Splitboarders are welcome.

- CHF 195.-
- Small group with 4 - 7 guests per mountain guide.
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Excluding travel expenses, possible train tickets, personal consumption.
- Pizolbahn: 22 with half-fare travelcard
Material and equipment
- We have for you a detailed packing list with packing tips compiled.
- For this tour you need the following material from this PDF. We carry our equipment with us all the time. Pack only what is necessary.
- A climbing harness is recommended for the summit ascent; alternatively, you can hire one from the mountain guide.
Bergschaft tours and courses are conducted in German as standard. However, our mountain guides speak good English, as do many of the participants. If you speak English, you are of course very welcome. Depending on the tour, it may be worth asking us in advance whether the guide and the group are comfortable speaking English.
