Vanoise Haute Route Ski Tour

The French Alps are among the most beautiful ski touring areas in Europe. Between Val d’Isère and the Haute Maurienne, an impressive ski traverse through the Vanoise National Park awaits us, featuring panoramic passes, glaciated peaks, cosy mountain huts and varied descents. This multi-day ski traverse links secluded valleys, rustic huts, magnificent firn slopes and spectacular summit destinations. Depending on conditions, we’ll supplement the traverse with rewarding ski tours such as the Ouille du Midi or the Pointe de la Galise, and adapt the route flexibly according to the weather and snow conditions.

Crossing on skis

The starting point for our trip is Bonneval-sur-Arc, one of the most beautiful mountain villages in France, situated at the head of the Maurienne Valley. On the very first day, weather permitting, there is the opportunity to ascend the Ouille du Midi using the mountain cable cars, providing the perfect way to get in the mood for the days ahead. Our actual ski traverse then begins. Via scenic passes, we reach the Refuge des Evettes and continue on to the Refuge du Carro. From there, a wealth of opportunities for fantastic ski tours and summit ascents opens up. Depending on snow and weather conditions, we’ll be flexible in our decisions and choose the most beautiful destinations. A particular highlight, provided the conditions are right, is the ascent of the Pointe de la Galise. This panoramic summit offers an impressive 360-degree view over the Vanoise and long descents back to our route. The combination of the French way of life, spectacular landscapes and fantastic ski tours makes these ski touring days a real hidden gem.
